Hue & Cry comes to Oakham High Street – May 29 2017

The High Sheriff of Rutland is set to call on the people to raise a Hue and Cry, an ancient right to call on citizens to apprehend criminals and villains.

The event is a fundraising event for The High Sheriff’s Charities, where the people of Rutland will gather to take part in at least five Hues and Cries. Starting at Swann’s Antiques, the events will be open to the following group; Children’s Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Gentlemen, Ladies, and Individuals.

The Hue & Cry is simple, the villain will set off from a set point and the High Sheriff of Rutland will shout, “Raise the Hue and Cry!” Participants must grab a red handkerchief  from the back pocket of the villain.

Remember, the criminals and villains are volunteers, so be careful and try not to hurt them. Don’t forget, there will be prizes for those who catch the bad guys and there will be a prize for the best dressed.

To participate, you must register for the event by emailing RutlandSheriff16@gmail.com

There is a £5 registration fee for adults and a £2.50 fee for kids. Participants will be given sponsorship forms that can be filled in and money raised goes to charity.
